There are a lot of different components in any given HVAC system. For the most part, you are not going to interact directly with the majority of these components. One very obvious exception to this rule is your thermostat in Des Moines, IA.
Your thermostat is the central control hub of your HVAC system, and it is responsible for relaying the information you put into it to your HVAC system itself. Without a great thermostat, you cannot expect great comfort. That is why you may want to upgrade yours.
- Digital. At the very least, you should be using a digital thermostat in your home. If you have an old slide or dial thermostat, you are making it harder than it should be in order to set temperatures accurately in your home. It’s inconvenient, they’re tough to read, and you’re probably fiddling with the thermostat more than you should. That can drive up energy costs.
- Programmable. There is no way to overstate the convenience of using a programmable thermostat. When you leave the house empty all day in the winter, do you turn the heat way down low? Or do you heat your home as you would if it were occupied all day, paying to keep nobody very comfortable? With a programmable thermostat, you can create a heating program built around your schedule. You can cut down on heating costs, while always having a warm home to come back to at the end of the day.
- Smart. Are you ready to really bring your HVAC system into the technological fold? If so, then a smart thermostat is for you. With a smart thermostat you get the benefits of programmability. However, you can also adjust your thermostat from anywhere there is an internet connection, via an app on your phone. Many models also have learning features, meaning that they can actually make adjustments themselves based on data accumulated from your user habits.
